Be Consistent! That means using the same door, same command, same potty area outside and similar times of the day.

Accompany your puppy outside on a leash to make sure he/she stays focused on the task at hand.

Choose a common word such as POTTY that every member in the family will use and be consistent with it.

Take your puppy out when he/she wakes up from a nap or drinks.

Take your puppy out about 20 minutes after eating.

Allow an extra 30-45 minutes each morning for your puppy.

Positive reinforcement with treats and verbal praise.

Be patient! Puppies have short attention spans and need lots of friendly reminders.
